Who are we

 

ARTLAB3000 is the collaboration of the artists Melanie Little Gomez and Des Smith (but also expands to include other artists and wonderful human beings who assist them on projects). They met in Switzerland in 2012 and after working together on a gallery installation and exhibition. They decided to bring their partnership back to Denton, Texas, where they set up a studio and workshop base from which to generate art works and projects across a multitude of disciplines.

Melanie Little Gomez is a human female American Chickasaw Choctaw Cheerokee, German English Irish artist (painter, miniature and mural, experimental improvisational noise maker, photographer, installation maker, sculpture etc). She is from Texas. She graduated in 1999 from Texas Women’s University with a BA in Photography. She moved to New York and began working as a professional photographer. In 2005 she moved to to Denton, Texas , where she began painting. She was represented by Simple Gallery in Gstaad, Switzerland for well over a decade. Which is also where she formed ARTLAB3000 in 2012.

Des Smith is Scottish! a sculptor, factotum and an experienced public artist. He graduated with a BA (hons) degree in Fine Art Sculpture from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, Scotland in 2005 and received a Masters in Fine Art Sculpture from The New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture in New York in 2010. That same year he was awarded the Dedalus Foundatiion's Master of Fine Arts Fellowship in Sculpture. In 2012 he met Melanie….
